Speaking of Grass...

We have some!  We got an email one morning telling us that the grass would be put in that day with instructions to water it until, well, forever.  Exciting!  The dogs can't be on it for 2 weeks, but it will be worth it to have something better than a dirt lot for them to run around in.  I had Josh take some photos of them putting it in, so here they are!

The Grass is Always Greener.....

Boo and Georgia love each other, but they love each other's beds even more.

A Few House 'Befores' and One 'After!

This past weekend I went around the house and took photos of every room as bare as they are so that we'd have something to remember this time with.  Eventually I'll get with the program and get some things hung on the walls, we'll get new furniture, and it will look a bit more 'lived in,' but for now we love our blank slate!  We haven't done nothing though, we got ambitious one Sunday and painted our teeny hall bathroom on the main floor and painted our master bedroom as well.  Next up - painting the master bath and the guest room!  Josh even surprised me on his day off with taping the guest room, so we have no excuses to not get it done this weekend....

Eventually the bathroom is going to be a lighter shade of the green that's in the bedroom.  Keep checking in (and harassing me!) to see some more finished projects!

Bring On Spring!

It's official.  I'm done with winter.  We had another 6.5" of snow over the last weekend and I truly hope it was the last for us!  Today we enjoyed 60 + degrees, and boy was I thankful.  We got to take the dogs for a walk after dark in only a jacket!

Life has just been moving along for Josh and I.  I am now babysitting a neighbor's kids four days a week, so my days are filled with new things like Dora, diapers, and dealing with tantrums.  It's been a lot of fun so far - the little girls make me laugh every day.

This past weekend Josh's parents came to see us on the way to visit their first grandchild/our new niece, Avery, and installed a garage door opener while they were here.  What a blessing!

And because posts with pictures are always more fun, here's one of our pups doing what they do best - napping.

Georgia

There has been another big change along with the new house - we have a new sister for Boo!  Her name is Georgia.  She is an American Bulldog mix that we rescued from a local rescue, and she's deaf.  Her deafness has certainly made us make some adjustments.  We had never realized how much we relied on our voices in training/managing Boo and now we are all too aware.  Since we got her 10 days ago, we have mastered sit and come using hand signals and we are now working on down.  The hardest part is getting her attention!

She's a little cuddle bug and is convinced that she's a 10 pound lap dog.  She loves kids more than adults I think, but is all around easy going.  Boo is a little obsessed with her and they do everything together.

I'm Back!

Long time no see, eh?  It's been a busy time for us these last few weeks!  We finally moved into our house, and we are in love.  Even though the walls are bare and the backyard is dirt until spring, we can't get over how much this feels like home.

My days of late have been filled with multiple trips to Target (any target in a 30 mile radius that is...), sweeping our floors (who knew how much stuff carpet hid that hardwood doesn't?!), and going for many walks around our new neighborhood (60 degrees in February - yes!)

Here are some photos from our closing and moving weekend!

Signing our lives away - we were thrilled!

Happy New Year!

Well, it's a sad state of affairs when my most recent posts are about Thanksgiving AND the new year!  It's been a busy few weeks around the Ballard household!  We have been camping out at my mom's place for the last two weeks and loving every single minute of it!  While we were there we got to catch up with my brother and sister-in-law in from California, create last minute gifts out of fabric and batting, bake and create more cookies and cakes than we could eat, play game after game, and have an all around blast - only taking a break in the middle to go to our friends awesome wedding.  Unfortunately though, I have no photos of these things as of now.  As those of you closest to me know, I fail miserably at remembering to take pictures!

We're home now though, and back to the real world.  The count to moving day is down to a mere 26 days!!

More House Updates!

I know it seems as though this is all I post about, but that's how quickly it's coming along!  We now have a closing date - and it's less than 2 months away!!  We're thrilled.  We went last week, and saw the main floor with the painting done, cabinets up, and the doors and trim up and painted.

Here's a sneak peek at our kitchen!

Thanksgiving

It was a fantastic Thanksgiving at the Ballard abode.  My mom was able to come and spend most of the week with us, and between cooking delicious things, playing Skip Bo, and shopping at 4 a.m. on Friday morning I don't think it could have been any better!

Josh's New Baby

For awhile we've been contemplating replacing Josh's old TV.  Not that we didn't love the greenish hue it had begun giving everything, but it was time for it to retire.  Luckily we came across exactly what he was looking for one weekend, and lets just say I have one happy husband!
